HIGHER THAN THE CHERUBIM

As part of the North Somerset Arts Week and following a weekend of recording their fifth CD to celebrate the choir's 10th anniversary, Harmonia Sacra performed a concert in the glorous acoustic of All Saints' Church, WsM. The choir returned to the theme of Russian Choral Orthodox choral music from the reigns of Empress Catherine the Great to Tsar Nicholas II. The choir explored new repertory from this period, including settings by Giuseppe Sarti and his pupils Pyotr Ivanovich Turchaninov, Artem Vedel, as well as favourites by Dimitry Bortnyansky, Pavel Chesnokov and Sergei Rachmaninov
