 CONCERTS IN 2016

POWER & PATRONAGE

A feast of Italian sacred music from the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, including Lotti's masterly Crucifixus as well as sublimely beautiful works by Giovanni Casali (maestro at San Giovanni in Laterano, Rome), Sebastiano Bolis, (maestro to Cardinal Henry Benedict Stuart, brother of Bonnie Prince Charlie), Isabella Leonarda (one of the leading female composers of the seventeenth century) and many others.

This concert programme was part of our preparations for travelling in 2017 to Rome, in whose beautiful churches we hope to perform many of the works on our Princely Splendour CD, as well as more recently unearthed music from Roman archives and contemporary English choral music.

ADVENT  REFLECTIONS

This concert included Harmonia's usual mixture of uplifting and ethereal sacred music for the Advent and Christmas season, with very new choral works by the talented and up-and -coming composers Nathan James Dearden and Lawrence Whitehead, in addition to repertoire ranging from Palestrina to Arvo Pärt.
